Christine Holme. Wirral Coastline, September 2019

Walking the Wirral shoreline throughout the year in all weathers, inspires my work. I love the changing light, big skies and the different moods of the sea. I have used gouache on rough, recycled watercolour paper for this latest series of paintings. The lively texture lends itself well to expressive marks and I really enjoy experimenting with colour combinations.

I will often work on several images at a time, aiming to keep my paintings energised. I paint quickly, from photos, sketches and memory, returning often to add more layers.
